50 Things to Do in Seattle
I grew up in Seattle and I’d like to think I know some cool spots and stuff to do. Seattle is the city of technology, gaming industry giants, the Space Needle, and rainy days where no one has their umbrella out. There’s a lot of hidden spots and fun local secrets. The city also has a very diverse and beautiful ecosystem since it’s sitting in the middle of a huge estuary. There are known to be orca whale pod sightings, large starfish, and sea lions poking their heads out of the water. The Puget Sound might also be home to the world’s largest octopus! There’s definitely a lot to do and a lot to learn about the city!

Pro Tips About Seattle:
The ‘it always rains in Seattle’ thing is only partly true. You might get drizzled on, but don’t expect a full downpour the entire visit. Seattle actually has typically clear skies July-September. However, there’s a lot of overcast during most of the year so expect it to be cold and windy pretty much year-round. Also don’t expect the weather to cooperate or follow whatever your weather apps are telling you, because it likes to be unpredictable and it can change at the drop of a hat. Heck, it can even be sunny and raining at the same time!
There’s a lot of traffic in the ever-growing city pretty much anywhere you go so try not to add to the mix, because you’ll only end up sad and in a line of cars. Think about taking public transport, Uber, Lyft, a rentable bicycle (JUMP and Lime are both everywhere), or a rentable scooter. It can be a lot more fun to do it that way too!
If you go across the lake to Bellevue, you can find a lot of high-end shopping, beautiful parks with views of Seattle, and a cleaner city. It may not be Seattle but a lot of times it’s better to stay in Bellevue and then bus across the bridge to Seattle, so you don’t have to find expensive paid parking or be worried about the higher break-in rates. Eventually you’ll even be able to take rapid transit out of Bellevue once it’s finally built! (Projected finish in 2023!)
There are a lot of amazing day trips out of Seattle including, Bainbridge Island, Whidbey Island, Friday Harbor, endless amounts of hiking trails, Woodinville Wineries, and Old Town Tacoma.
Lots of museums have a free day so make sure you look ahead of time and see if you can manage to go on one of those days.
